This is a couple of days in to the making of this set piece. Here I am using a layer of PVA to seal the paint and harden the outside of the polystyrene base. This is left to dry after each application of paint. There are a lot of paint layers. This is because i want a earthy muddy feel to the set so each layer of paint is applied with a generous amount of water. this naturally runs down the cracks and creases of the models leaving sediments of pigments along the way these sediments are which create the depth to the paint.
Small bits of Popsicle sticks were chopped up to make the steps leading up to the terrace.
A small chain was superglued to some matchsticks to create the chain rope fence.
Sarah came down today to see what i was up to and provided me with some insight to further develop my graveyard theory.
It was shot on my phone, so quality not so good =)
Repainted Alleyway set pieces.
I repainted my set pieces black as another undercoat. Now ready to start actually painting them properly. I did this because a small amount of white was still showing through the previous brown undercoat.
