My studio area in my last year of S.I.T.
Close up of a small bridge at the bottom of a piece of work called wall of remembrance.
The Wall of Remembrance, without the overhead 'roof'.
W.O.R river detail, 2014. Part of the Wall of Remembrance, 2012 set. It featured a living lichens and mosses as well as synthetic ones.

Generations, 2012. A view down the length of this set piece. This was made from a plaster cast of my arm and duplicated, stuck together and then painted. It rested on shards of mirrors, which reflected a tree bark material on the underside.

Materials: Plaster, duct tape, Pva glue, Wire, Mirror shards, Miniature people.

Landscape test, 2014. Hand carved and painted plaster landscape from excess plaster.
Materials: Plaster of Paris, acrylic paints, Pva glue, modelling flock.

Mt Bruce 2014. My first exhibition piece featuring a small scale section of landscape from my life. This work had small clay scenes embedded into it featuring more prominent memories. Materials: Clay, Pva glue, paper, white acrylic paint, chicken wire, metal chain, fimo clay.

Above and below. some of the costumes from the Beast of Fawkes film set that I made.  Gps tracker and reciever.

A small sculpture concept from a scene in our group project, The Beast of Fawkes. Materials: Clay, acrylic paints, Pva glue, Balsa wood, Plastic display case.

After been given a space to work in I immediately started to build a cave around my workstation that had nooks and shelves in it which could display my work. this really helped me as my station was visually enticing and my theme was about viewer engagement.
It also featured (not shown) a small screen in which images of memory and landscape were placed in a slideshow.
The Weight of Leaves 2012, a small sculpture made from clay depicting a figure holding a single leaf above his head. This piece was about fair trade chocolate and taking things for granted.
Wall of Remembrance. Detail showing carved and painted expanding foam to create an impression that the viewer was underneath the ground. Fake plastic grass was used on the top.

Sculpture- Mount Holdsworth

Sculpture- Mount Holdsworth

 Final picture.
 close up of rocky detail.

Originally was going to build both sides of the bridge, coming out of the "wall" but this didn't work out so just made the one side with the bridge coming out towards the viewer.

Step1:

I hand carved the "Frame" with a craftknife. The image was transferred via saral transfer paper.

Step2:
I started with the painting of the sky and elements furthest away.

 Step3:

Grey florist foam was added and carved to make the rocky cliff edge.  each piece was hot glued to the mdf background.

Step4:

The bridge coming out of the image. It took a few goes to get the angle right for the image to work properly.

 Background finally painted.

Step5:

A mixture glue and sand  helped create the textured feel for the rocky outcrop.
