Here are a few examples of lighting that we learned today in Maya.
The first light we used is Ambient light. It lights up the whole scene much too brightly, depending on the effect that you are going for.
Area lights. This light system works well for highlighting a small area. The light is very soft around the edges.
Directional light. Obviously from the left facing the right the directional light will cast shadows on objects behind other objects quite harshly, though that can be played with in the settings.
Point light.
Spot lights
Volume light with fog. Provides quite a moody atmosphere.
