Pinnacles project: Part4

Pinnacles project: Part4

Getting the base ready.Just used white polystyrene on a black coreboard base.

added more white into the bottom of the sky lightning it up to give it more depth.

Added some clouds, still not enirely happy with these but i think I'll come back to it later. Still look flat.

I used some textured paint to give a very rocky texture to the background hills, this will also be applied to the foreground hills to provide a sense of unity and coherence to the piece.

Added in some darker tones to clouds will go over these later.

New workstation! Got a cheap Goldwell hair-dye station from a second hand place in Carterton and fitted it with some lights and a mirror.

I used floral foam as the white polystyrene is harder to sculpt.

After laying these out on the board i roughly cut the shape with a craftknife.

Below: Showing progression of carving the groves into the floral foam. This will all be painted afterwards which will help cover up any gaps.

With the last 2 images I am trying to show the depth of the work, this will be easier to see once it is all painted up.
